Happy December everybody! Can you believe there’s just one more month before its 2018? It’s crazy how time flies by so fast. Just like how it felt so recent when I made my first Sigma purchase 3 years ago, and now I’m so lucky to be an affiliate with them!
Sigma was the first brand of brushes I’ve ever purchased, as a makeup artist – it made me feel like my dream of doing makeup really became a reality. I felt professional having tools of the trade that was sturdy, well built, and almost artisan from being hand-crafted. I finally made my first big girl purchase and was ready for the real world, that’s what it felt when I made my first Sigma purchase.
I highly recommend you guys checking out the education page from Sigma, it really goes in-depth on the quality of their brushes and performance.
I love how classy and traditional the polished wooden handles are, engraved with the Sigma logo and the brush identity. They’re extremely sturdy and for the years that I’ve had them for, they haven’t chipped or splintered. Sigma does have a 2-year warranty in case you do happen to chip your brush.
A majority of the brushes are made with synthetic thermoplastic engineered polymer fibres to softly and efficiently apply product. I love that the bristles are hypoallergenic and don’t have pores in them to hold bacteria. They’re also super resistant and rarely frays.
The brush ferrules are made of high-quality zinc and copper, allowing it to be antimicrobial as well as corrosion resistant. I find that they hold the bristles together really well, and they’re attached to the handle very firmly – I haven’t had a brush head pop off before or bristles fall out.
I am so humbled and honoured to be an affiliate of Sigma, after using their brushes and products for all these years. They recently sent me a box of goodies and I’m so excited to share them with you and show you what I think about them.
The first brush was their 3DHD Kabuki face brush – one of their best selling brushes! I already own two of these so I was so happy to get another one as a backup (though looking back now I think I really should have saved it as a giveaway. D: ) and to travel with me. As you all know, I typically apply my foundation with a sponge and rarely use brushes anymore, but lately, there have been a ton of foundations coming out meant to be used with a brush. The synthetic fibres in this brush don’t absorb the product and distribute it evenly over my face. I love how this brush is shaped, it gets into the smallest crevice like the corners of my nose. It doesn’t leave any streaks either when I buff the foundation into my skin.
The F40 Large Angled contour brush is one of the softest brushes I’ve ever had grace my face. It leaves a very defined line while still being able to blend out my contour without making it look too heavy. The bristles aren’t overly dense which makes it easy to blend, and it holds the powder very well keeping it controlled. The brush handle is from the Nightlife collection, I love the black glossy finish with blue and green glitters blended in. It looks like the starry night sky, so magical.
I really appreciated that Sigma sent not just eye brushes but also face brushes for me to try out, basically covering all complexion bases. I love this F35 tapered highlighter brush so much. It’s very soft, leaving a nice diffused glow rather than a harsh strobe effect. This is perfect for creating that ‘c’ shape highlight coming down from the temple to the cheekbone and those who love a more soft and natural highlight.
I want to introduce you guys to my new best friend when it comes to liner. The E06 Winged Liner brush applied my liner EFFORTLESSLY. I used to only use pen brushes when it came to applying eyeliner, but in the more recent months, I’ve been using gel liners a lot because I find that they’re much more pigmented and wear longer. I tried this brush for the first time with their wicked gel liner and I had a flawless sharp wing that only took me one try. Usually, when I apply winged liners, I end up cleaning the wing with some concealer to sharpen it, with this brush I skipped that step completely. If there was a top pick from me, the E06 would be it. I highly recommend you add this to your collection if you don’t already have it.
The E15 flat definer brush is my definition of a perfect brush for cutting creases and cleaning up lines. I used this brush to clean up with concealer underneath my brows and it did an impeccable job. It didn’t soak up any of my concealer and blended out the edges perfectly. The sharp edge allowed me to create a very define and clean line that gave me that trendy Instagram look. I think this brush would be great for cream products and help with nose contouring.
The E25 blending brush is your standard blending brush that all kits need. You can never have enough blending brushes. The bristles are packed in nicely and have a dome shape to it, staying very soft and fluffy. This isn’t my favourite blending brush though, keep reading to the end to check out what my favourite picks are! This blending brush is a little flatter than the ones I prefer, but it makes it more of a versatile brush being able to pack on shadow with its side before blending it out with the tip.
Flat shader brushes are my FAVOURITE when it comes to an eye brush. I feel like they’re the most versatile brushes out there, they’re dense to pack shadow onto the lids, small and precise for blending out edges, I even use them to blend out concealer sometimes. I feel myself constantly reaching out for flat shader brushes more than I do blending brushes sometimes and it’s weird. I feel its more so the shape of my eyes versus the brush. The E55 Eye Shading brush is much loved in my collection and I am so happy to have another one. For more brushes I love, check out my picks here! Now on to makeup! Sigma brushes don’t only make brushes, but they make professional artist grade beauty products as well. Some of my favourite products have come from Sigma, one of them being their gel liner in the shade Wicked. It’s one of my go-to’s when I apply gel liner. Another product I love is their eye base, especially the coloured ones. It makes applying colourful looks that much easier. It was my first time, however, trying out their power sticks and lip eclipse. The one pictured is their power stick in the shade ‘In Spades‘, and I was stunned by how crazy pigmented it came out, as well as smooth and creamy. I created a look using all the products and you can see my reaction first hand.
Happy Thursday hunniebuns! I’m sorry my post is so late today, I actually feel so gross I didn’t wake up until 4:30 PM. I was really excited to film with my new camera, and what better way than to demonstrate with some @sigmabeauty products? Look how stunning this lip eclipse is! I do think I can definitely improve on some things – currently waiting for my micro HDMI cable to come in so I can plug it into a monitor.
