Happy New Year dolls! × I apologize for the lack of posts the last two weeks, I’ve been busy celebrating the holidays with my loved ones that I felt that it was important to hold off my reviews until now.
A brand I’m really excited to share and review with you is Thrive Causemetics – I absolutely adore brands that are cruelty free as I’m a fur mommy as you all know. What’s so special about Thrive Causemetics is that not only are they cruelty free and vegan, they also make it their mission to donate a product when it’s purchased to charities that support women with cancer or domestic violence. A beauty with a purpose; the ability to empower women and make them feel beautiful inside and out is truly a breathtaking movement to be part of.
I was super fortunate to be sent a few products to review, I really want to give a shout out to Karly for being so sweet and always getting back to my emails. I really appreciate it and want to thank the entire Thrive Causemetics team for believing in me. I’ve been trying out the products for two weeks now to get a good feel of all the products. One that really stands out to me is their Infinity Waterproof Lash Adhesive, I’m a lashaholic and I’m really picky when it comes to my lash adhesives.
Some can be smelly, others don’t hold at all. I’ve tried a few that held way too well and pulled out a ton of my lashes and I’ve dealt with some that irritated my eyes. To have a lash glue that can cater to all my needs really is something special. This bottle of adhesive holds my false lashes on throughout the day without making my eyes water and is still easy to remove without pulling my lashes. It doesn’t smell of ammonia and dries clear. I don’t have to wait for it to dry to become tacky, but when I do the wait time isn’t too long. I think of all the products out there from Thrive Causemetics, this one was my absolute favourite. See me use it in action down below!
Along with the lash glue I got to try out a pair of their lashes, Kristy Faux Lashes, lashes that are made of vegan silk that can be worn up to 30 times and holds your curls. These lashes were very light weight and natural, the lash band meshed naturally into your lash line blending them in like your natural lashes which I can appreciate. However if you know me you know I love big fluffy lashes that reach for the sky. These lashes are meant for more natural looks. They’re what I would wear on days where I don’t want to wear any makeup at all but I want my eyes to look awake and vibrant. I do love how lightweight they are because at one point I forgot I even had them on.
I swatched the next three products on one arm for you all to compare – two of them are meant for the lip and the last one is a multistick, made to be used on the eyes, cheeks + lips.
Matte Legacy Liquid Lipstick in Meghan, this formula had a slight mousse-y texture to it, a bit more whipped than other formulas which I actually like. It doesn’t run on my lips when I apply it and feels very soft and comfortable to wear. The wear time lasted me an entire evening which is great as that’s around usually the time when I remove my lip product to eat or drink. It doesn’t pick up on dry flakes that I have. I really enjoyed the applicator as well, it had a sharper diamond point compared to a doe foot that really helped with precision of application. The formula has a soft silicone like feel to it which I found to help prevent feathering like it was built with a primer within it. I love how the muted taupe shade of Meghan was more on the warm side, it reminded me of a warm cocoa colour that went well with every look I wore it with.
Next we have the Glossy Lip Mark in Pamela, a very interesting formula that you don’t come across often. It leaves a tint on your lips over time after the gloss wears off. I usually prefer wearing gloss as it helps make the appearance of your lips look more full and plump, so I enjoyed this formula quite a lot as it was powered by a hydrogel serum. It didn’t feel tacky or sticky after application. I did however feel that it skipped a little when I applied it, so make sure you line your lips first with this product to prevent feathering. It’s infused with vitamin E to help enhance moisture penetration into the lips. I really loved the tint it left behind after the gloss wore off, it looked as if I had just ate a ton of berries and my lips were stained from berry juice.
The Triple Threat Color Stick in Olivia made it as another one of my holy grails, it blended in flawlessly with my foundation without removing any product when I wore it as a cream blush. It has a flat round blending brush built in on the other end to help you blend on the go, but I just used my fingers and a sponge and it worked like a dream. I found the shade Olivia very universal and suitable for so many skin tones, a coral shimmer with hints of peach and gold shimmer in it. Universal sticks can be used in so many way and can be applied everywhere, I think this is such a great product to carry around with you to touch up throughout the day. The stick is also infused with a ton of amazing essential oils and vitamins for additional skin benefits, including brightening and reduction of fine lines. If there’s anything you needed to check out, the Triple Threat Color Stick is one of them.
The last two products I had the honor of trying out was the Infinity Waterproof Eyebrow Liner, and the Focus Eyeshadow Palette No. 1 – I had the shade Audrey with the brow liner which was a dark blonde shade. I found the formula astounding and it created very precise brow strokes which I really enjoyed.
I used Audrey on the very front of my brows to create extra volume and texture by drawing in precise hair strokes. I had to fill my brow in with my usual brow product as I have very dark brow hair to begin with. As you can see, Audrey is a very universal colour to begin with, it’s great to have in your collection to add a gradient to your brow. The formula itself was pigmented and easy to work with, and didn’t smudge much after setting. Like most of Thrive Causemetics products, it’s infused with a ton of amazing goodies like Jojoba oil to help condition your brows and sodium hyaluronate to hydrate. The other end of the brow liner has a thin spooley to help brush out your brows.
I really love the quad palette, their Focus Eyeshadow Palette No. 1, the formula was extremely buttery and creamy and universally versatile for all skin types. The only thing I wish was introduced in the palette was a matte shade as they were all very shimmery and satin feeling. They blended out beautifully and for a vegan product was very pigmented and stayed on amazingly. I’ve come across palettes before that were vegan or mineral based that looked stunning in the pan but came out rather lacklustre once swatched or applied, and I found that the Thrive Causemetics formula didn’t have that issue. I wore it for an entire day and it wore beautifully throughout. The creamy consistency was easy to work with and I even used the lightest shade as a highlighter on my cheeks.
I used all the products on my face the other day and recorded a small tutorial on my instagram with the eyeshadow palette. I think all together the products are absolutely stunning, if you look closely to my brows you can see the brow strokes I created with the brow liner. Overall I enjoyed the products I recieved from Thrive Causemetics, I believe that they cater their products for all skin types and tones, built to empower women as a beauty with a purpose. It’s great to know that I’m wearing something that is going to also be donated to help others who are going through cancer and domestic violence – clean makeup that is friendly to both the earth and animals. I don’t think there’s enough good things that could be said about the brand and Karissa. I honestly think you should take the chance to check out all the other goodies they have on their website.
